I'm finally starting to acclimate to the time/weather changes I have endured. On Tuesday morning I ran a crisp 30 minutes. In the evening I headed over to the track at Hadar Yoseff near Tel Aviv. The facility is in early stages of decay but nonetheless a beautiful area with two adjacent tracks. One of the tracks is in front of the grand stands and is used for competition and the other is the practice facilities. Upon arrival I felt as taken aback to my college days as the track was littered with athletes pursuing different event areas. I walked in like I owned the place and after a fairly quick warmup I began my workout. Several Ethiopian distance runners were in various stages of their respective workouts and began to look at me in bewilderment as my workout progressed. To the workout- I had decided to do 2x 400-800-400 followed by 4x200m and 8x100m, but in typical fashion I skewed from my scheduled workout. I began on schedule, running 60.2-202(62-60)-60.7 with 1 min 2 min rest, with surprisingly relative ease. But after the 2nd 400m my legs felt as if I had just run a marathon. So I decided to run 5x300m for the second set. It was apparent immediately that I had spent all my energy on the first set. I ran 44-44-46 with 100m recovery but was all out. So I went on to run 200's but a few strides into my first one my calf balled up into a cramp so I stopped immediately figuring i was a bit dehydrated. All and all I was pleased with my first set and there was nothing more that could be done after the fact. After my workout a guy from the Maccabi Tel Aviv (a prominent Israelli athletic club) approached me about the prospect of running for his club and representing Israel in some European meets. I told him I had to consider his offer and would get back to him as my season progressed and see if I was running the times I was aspiring to achieve.

Wednesday I spent the entire day at the beach. I ran 20 minutes at the beach for kicks and than met up with Doron at the track for my second run ( a guy I met randomly at a college meet a few years back who happens to be Israeli and a 1500m runner and again met randomly in Israel while doing my workout.) We did an easy 53 minutes and a stretch.
